  • I have to wonder about the intelligence levels of the brothers "goober" for spending as much money as they do looking for the "probably never will be" treasure

  • Probably not their money, Investors.
Say how would you like to pay for a fishing trip for me?
I will split all the fish with you 50/50. If I catch any.
    That is how it works

  • Agree, although Marty and his partner have money to burn they worked hard for it in the energy business and are smart enough to not squander it. They do have investors plus the show is raking it in and they surely are partners in that too. Wonder what the three of them make per episode plus a son, the nephews and who else on the payroll.

  • I don't think there ever was any treasurer left behind on the island. Why would you leave all your treasurer, and move on not knowing if you would ever be able to return?
    But what do I know?

  • I watch it all the time as I grew up near Traverse City where Marty operates out of. They sure have a knack for stringing you on. Seems the results of the search are more of an important historical nature than treasure, I feel the treasure likely was or is there. Unusually complex ancient structures found thus far with more showing up too. Also watched their Lake Michigan Confederate Gold show. I worked out of Muskegon doing heavy marine construction for years, had a tug and towing license and am familiar with the lakes rivers and coasts. I think I know more about Hackley than the shows producers do. Our docks were on Muskegon Lake where Hackley's mill was and a block from where his original office was. Had an apartment near Hackley's home(s) were and knew thet area well. That show, the gold, and some people in the show are quite questionable. They do bring up some interesting Civil War and Michigan history but most of the show is pure chaff.

  • I suspect they drilled through it awhile back and sent it all down and out to sea.
Yep. One of the 'teams' got a drill and started punching in, It came up with a few gold coins and nothing else. So, I suspect the drill went right through the bottom and the booty has all washed away.
I would venture to guess that when it was buried, drills were not thought of.
