  • CHALLENGER DISASTER
  • 34 years ago today, January 28, 2020 at 08.30 EST, the US Space Shuttle Challenger exploded at 73 seconds into its flight. Haven't heard any mainstream media TV stations mention this yet, and only one radio station has talked about it.

  • It got just a mention here in Central FL. I member it vividly, it was as about as cold and clear as it gets here at that time of day. We were in the process of launching a new boat near Flagler Beach and one of the crew said there it is, I turned just after it exploded and saw the huge white plume with flaming pieces falling down.

  • The local TV outlets came through the next day. They did a great showing footage of the memorial services held at the Space Center the day before. They also showed highlights of the space program, including the disaster. They showed and interviewed attending dignitaries and space pioneers after the memorial service, all well done.
