  • Pertronix Electronic Ignition
  • I am thinking of changing my 12 volt Jubilee over to Pertronix Electronic Ignition part 1244A. After checking the reviews on it I am wondering if that would be a good idea. Can anyone tell me if there is a lot of problems after doing this? I have seen the youtube videos on this and it looks easy to change. I would like to get rid of the point system.

  • I just dug thru my parts bin for Herb 9N. It is a Pertronix unit that I used.
Been in there for a few years. Never touched it since installing, and Heb always fires.

  • Down here in Texas near the Gulf of Mexico, constant high humidity is a real killer to original style points & condenser controlled distributors in classic and vintage vehicles, particularly if the vehicles are not kept in enclosed buildings. That stated, I found several years ago (going on ten I think now) that by changing to the Pertronix EI system, the humidity was no longer a problem and engines in my vintage tractor and classic truck collection would start up relatively quick.

  • First GOOD reason I've heard of for making the change over. Fortunately we do not have your problems in Iowa.

  • I have 12 volts and electronic ignition on my 41 9N. Would have to dig thru the spares box to find out what brand it is. It has been working for several years, no problems.
