  • I've been away for awhile and just saw Jack's post of Dan's obituary. I knew he had some serious health issues for a long time, but the news of his passing is still quite a jolt. Plus, I was shocked he was so young. Rest in peace, Dan.

Lots of memories of Maude pushing snow & moving bales, the horse rescue farm, refurbishing old firearms.

    Jack, thanks for posting.

  • I was just thinking of him yesterday. Then a few days ago when someone was mentioning pulling logs with an 8N and the problem Dan had doing something similar.

  • Dan used to attend his local County Fairgrounds and antique tractor pulls. He had done several things to Maudie to help. One time he had a high compression head. He also had a set of one piece wheel weights that I sold to him.
Where he got into trouble was he had a 4 bolt bolt on hitch point on the diffy housing around the PTO. The 9N-2N casting was not made for that and he tore the whole rear casting and pto shaft out of the tractor.
He replaced the center housing (diffy housing) with an 8N housing with the swinging drawbar bracket bolted in the bottom. Everything else was still 9N.
I bought Maudie from Dan in February of 2019.

  • I am glad to hear Maude is in good hands. I had wondered what happened to her after Dan sold her.
