Think you are smart
If you thing you are smarter than the previous generation. 50 years ago the owners manual of a car told you how to adjust the valves. Today it warns you not to drink the continents of the battery

Re: Think you are smart
Thanks for the laugh. Best chuckle I have had for a while. I have the original owners manual for my 1929 Willys Whippet Coach. It tells how to adjust valves. Adjust breaks. Set Points. Bleed gas line. Adjust timing. Change main bearings. Rebuild engine.

Re: Think you are smart
Modern instructions tend to be full of warnings, especially electric things, and short on practical info. I just bought a new Martin propane heater. The word thermometer, or thermostat, does not appear anywhere. I was trying to find out if it was adjustable. I do recall a 1953 car I had, which had a complete colour coded wyring diagram and much other useful info. It was an F Head and had info on valve adjustment. Island Mike

Re: Think you are smart
Modern engines don't require valve adjustments. And none of my owners manuals have any warnings about drinking the contents of the battery, which would be almost impossible since modern batteries are sealed.

Re: Think you are smart
Modern auto batteries are not all sealed; most are not sealed at all. They appear to be sealed but actually have a removable cap to access the cells.

Then I encourage you to take a sip. And if you're feeling ravenous, then your electrical panel is filled with red and black licorice. Have at it.
