Written and first recorded by the incomperable Hank Williams, this song was covered by just about everyone who ever sang real country music but none did it so well as Linda Ronstadt who turned who turned Hank's masterpiece into this gut-wrenching lament. Emmylou Harris singing backup in 1974.
