Re: California / Germany Climate change
My sister in law and her husband moved to California in the early 60's to pursue their dreams of whatever in the land of opportunity at the time. And they did for many years. Until the weight of doing business got to be too much to bear. Due to failing health by the husband and other issues, they decided to move back to Texas last year. My wife flew out to help them get ready for the move, disposing of property, settling old debts and just in general trying to tie up any loose ends involved with such an undertaking.
She, and they, found out it's not easy leaving that state. Many visits to various agencies with results resembling a sitcom situation. A parking ticket that took weeks to resolve because of two JP's that were in a turf war. Trying to sell a house "As Is" is impossible in San Bernardino. On and on. A month long project ended up taking six months.
Finally, after many false starts and the final insult when they tried to rent a motor home one way to Texas, they started back home. (Mention Texas in California and find out what bias really means...The motor home had to be rented out of state. It was still a one way rental.)
My wife almost got arrested for contempt of court trying to take care of the parking ticket. That happened when she invited the judge to come to Texas to learn how to take care of business.
