Propaganda, not journalism
Not surprisingly, it shows the hatred and ignorance of the neo-fascists, but conveniently shows NO film of the neo-communists (like Antifa and BLM) who also showed up in helmets, face masks, protective body gear and with sticks/clubs/mace/bottles of urine/etc. It only shows the students in opposition of the fascists. If you watch unedited video, you see both fringe groups showing their hatred and ignorance.
Trump was right when he said blame belonged on multiple parties.
I think some blame has to be placed on the Charlottesville Police Dept., too. Yeah, it's a college town police dept. with limited resources but common sense should have dictated that they never let these two fringe groups get that close to each other. Plus, precedent has been set by other experienced agencies in not allowing protesters access if they are wearing helmets and protective gear, or hiding their faces or carrying what could be a weapon. The Police Dept. dropped the ball - rumors are going around that they were told to stand down, but we'll see if there is truth in that. The Charlottesville Mayor is a self-serving liberal, who I think is using this tragedy as a way to get face time and name recognition in order to get donations and votes for his future run for the House of Delegates. He will leave a broken town with less racial harmony than he found when elected, but he won't care - he'll get what he wants and move on.
