  • Long time back I watched the Steeler's on occasions because of their quarterback Bradshaw and O Harris (I think)his running back but was never drawn to the nfl because of the over paid salaries.I haven't watched the games for years so I won't miss it.Hopefully a lot of good will come from their disrespect of our anthem and flag !Signing up for "food stamps" maybe.Rather watch a high school game. They show respect. God Bless America !

  • I like to watch real men, playing a real game. So I watch rugby.
I have never seen any disrespect for a national anthem. That includes many countries.

  • The specific rule pertaining to the national anthem is found on pages A62-63 of the NFL League Rulebook. It states:
“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
“During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition...
...It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offences.

BTW, they are off my watch list as long as this BS continues.

  • This all about race, perpetuated by the leftist regime. The billionaire white owners are only there because they know if they lose more revenue due to many Americans boycotting the NFL, they won't have to worry about starving. The facts are that most black people have no idea what slavery was and think they are entitled to a free ride because their great, great, great grandfather may have been a slave. Let's see, the left has successfully ended the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer in public schools, perhaps this was the start of this crap now? Our founding Fathers and other real Americans like Red Skelton and Ronald Reagan are rolling over in their graves.

  • I disagree. I am sure MOST so called black people could care less about this nonsense. My 70+ years have shown me that most folks, whatever their ethnicity, just want to live their lives. Our friends in the media just want us to hear about the exceptions who don't appreciate this great country. Just my opinion.

  • I quit as soon as Kapernick started this crap and got away with it. I hope more people will choose to turn them off then hopefully the NFL will alter their stance.

  • Read my post in OT on the NFL. You have to blame the people that support them.

  • I stopped following/watching the NFL back in the 80’s. They were, and are worse now, nothing more than a bunch of over-paid crybabies. Baseball is the same, and I never followed basketball but it has been like that there forever. I only follow hockey and some college football, but even at that level, it is nothing more than a money grubbing business and pre–NFL processing operation. Let’s see, you ‘work’ in the United States, are being paid millions of dollars PER YEAR to play what use to be just a game, for a league that is run by so–called Americans, and owners who are also million/billion-aires and so-called Americans. It is a business, part of capitalism. Your wages are being paid for by the hard-working Americans who can afford the ridiculous ticket prices. When you kneel down or refuse to stand for the National Anthem, condemn the President of the US, you are disgracing, crapping on the flag, country, and all those real Americans who actually have to work for a living and pay your salaries. You don’t have any rights to protest. If you think you are being treated unfairly, then move to Iran or Korea or Russia and see what the real world is like. F-YOU!!! Like most of Hollywood and the music/entertainment industry, you think you have the right to try and manipulate the libtard agenda to your own selfish advantages. The playing field/stage is not your chance or right to spew your political beliefs on the rest of the world. The more people who agree and stop supporting these people and this stuff, he sooner owners/league officials will wake up as it will hurt them where their only interests really lie –the money. I support those who do stand and place their hand on their heart when the National Anthem is played. God help the USA…

  • I never have been and never will be as even at my older age, I've got much more important things to keep my mind occupied, and even better shows to view on TV! In my opinion, any person(s) that show such disrespect for our Stars & Stripes, and our National Anthem should be immediately stood against a wall and injected with a fatal case of lead poisoning by a firing squad. Sports figures are not anywhere near worth what they're paid anyway!

  • "I support the troops" Guess they are just back in the dumper now.
Troops support the flag and what it stands for. Troops have the POTUS as the Commander in Chief. Troops then support the Commander in Chief, No?
The NFL, I think that means Nothing but Freakin' Losers, does not support the flag, thereby not the troops.
How is it that GI Joe working at dang near poverty level paychecks, below minimum wage when you figure in a 24 hour job, versus some 1 day a week, spoiled brat millionaires?
Watch the NFL? Those clowns just fell in with the same level as the NBA local team the "Trailblazers". Those clowns with fist fights, dog fights and the best one was the player that called the cops to his mansion when he thought he heard a burglar in his house. They found a pound bag of marijuana instead when looking into a closet.
Arrested? No, they were not looking for drugs, just bad guys. Look! They found one.
Just not a burglar as reported. No more Trailbums for me. Now the NFL has delved into stupidity. Wonder if NASCAR will start knee bending?

  • I have been a die hard NFL fan for over 50 years. That ends today. As long a we have we a bunch of spoiled brats that have accomplished nothing other than playing a kid's game that disgrace our flag and national anthem, I will not watch another game! This has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with paying respect to all our military people that have given their all protecting our people. They have the freedom of speech do protest if they want. I, also, have the freedom to protest the NFL and owners allowing this kind of behavior by not watching any games! If athletes want to protest, they should do it on the own time, not while they are being paid to do a job.

  • Same here - been a Redskins fan since the mid 50's. Been a hard core fantasy football player for 30 years now. Used to have the football package on DirecTV and wasted a lot of Sundays on my butt in front of the TV. That's over. It was amazing how productive this past Sunday was and how nice to be working outside all day with my wife and hanging out with our pups. I've watched my Skins play football in three different stadiums in the DC area. I watched the beginning of the Raiders game and when I saw those 3-4 players kneel, the TV went off and my wife and I decide to turn on some music and read. I downloaded a new book to my Kindle ("D-Day through German eyes") and enjoyed reading another perspective on history.

  • Awesome! Just think of the educational impact if more people did that. I'm currently reading a book, "On the Wings of Dawn", written by Laura A.Edge, a local author. She writes about her father's experiences as a POW in Germany and the German version of a death march.
It is very well written and has drawn me into each situation as if I'm standing there observing. I'm about 2/3 through it.
I've met the author twice through a friend (how I happened to get the book) while we worked the "Thunder Over Michigan" airshow at Willow Run Airport, Ypsilanti, Michigan, home of the Ford built B-24 Liberator and the Yankee Air Museum.
Laura had some real personal experiences while gathering her information including visiting Germany, talking with an individual who saw her father's plane shot down and he gave her a piece of that aircraft that he had picked up as a souvenir.

  • Exact sentiments at coffee this morning. We pay to be entertained by these people, not to watch a demonstration during our national anthem. If they have a cause, do it on their own time. Obviously the NFL (and Mrs. Ford, Detroit Lions) support the attitudes of a few.
There are a lot more people who wear or have worn a uniform for this country. What if we ALL ignore the NFL?
