The victory of Judge Roy Moore over Mitch McConnell-backed incumbent Senator Luther Strange in the Alabama Republican Senate primary runoff has loosed a tidal wave of enthusiasm among grassroots conservatives for other heartland outsider candidates for the United States Senate.

  • For years I was against term limits. My feeling was that we already have them, called elections. My error is that I had faith that the general voting public would have the good sense to replace career politicians at the polls.

This new move, or wave, to get some new blood in there is a good move, but I sincerely hope these replacements will be the real deal and not just more of the same once elected. The democrats have the patience to hold out and take over again after we get through melting away with internal disagreements on how to use this new power we are supposed to have.

    Just call me disgusted.

  • Unfortunately, most end up selling their soul. Others, like Jason Chaffetz leave before the Beltway Satan gets his grip. New Senators/Congressman go to DC and immediately hire staff that has been entrenched forever. That starts the transformation - these are the ultimate swamp dwellers and end up helping corrupt most who go to DC.

  • I too am skeptical, Joe.

  • I believe the quiet revolution has started and many long term republicans up for election will be in for a shock. Americans are flat out tied of the same old business model of congress. New blood and term limits are two ways to restore Americans confidence in Washington. Two terms and you're out, no further involvement or elected position governing allowed other then cabinet positions. You want to run for office, do it at the local level. NO life time pension, play by the same rules and laws as we are required to do. You serve your two terms (if reelected) and go somewhere else to "earn" a pension. No pension on my dime.
As President Trump said, he's there to drain the swamp, and I think the American voters will do just that. Can't come soon enough for this red blooded deplorable.

  • Absent revolution, you will never see term limits.

  • 100% Spot on. This is like why do they exclude themselves from everything they come up with that affects the rest of the nation.

I worked for a company that had a motto (it was run by 8 owners and their gaggle of kids):

"All rules apply except for when they don't."

Think that works for the Senate and the House??
