  • A True American Speaks Out
  • The nfl ruled this past week on the issue of kneeling during the national anthem and what their solution is. A NY REP came out and blasted the jets owner for what he said, that he'd pay for any player who kneels and gets fined, and the rep responded with, "...kneeling during the National Anthem is like giving the Nazi salute..." I agree it is a total disrespect for our country and our Flag and the men and women who have fought and are fighting to keep our freedoms. The NY rep i snow taking flak over this and the demsocialists will be calling for his resignation you can bet on that. I do not watch the nfl anymore and feel anyone who disrespects the Flag like this is an a$$. Yeah, the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, heck it is ok to burn the flag as well, but half of these douchewaffles don't know why they are kneeling in the first place. For many it is just so they can get noticed on TV. The nfl already had a rule in place for the players conduct when the National Anthem was played. Discussions have continued that the TV mongrels could just not televise the anthem and that would end the controversy. Don't bet on it...it's all about getting the publicity and causing an uproar, nothing to do with freedoms. You don't like the anthem? Go live in mid-east or North Korea or Russia or China better yet, pick up a gun and go defend our country. Unbelievable how the dem-socialists are destroying our great country...

  • You can tell anybody any thing you want, freedom of speech!!! Although the manner in which you say it makes the difference whether you are listened to or ignored. Just my opinion. A little respect go a long way!!! Rusty

  • Freedom of speech is one thing and so be it. Crude in public is another. My father and 40 years in the auto industry taught me language that makes a sailor blush. However, he also taught me respect for others in public. The "F" bomb in public, among other words, was a no no. But also, that I cannot impose my beliefs on someone else. I have incountered people who cannot speak without every other word being the "F" bomb. I just avoid them.
Many times inappropriate words have entered my mind when a situation occurs. The key for me is to refrain from using them. Not out of fear of repercussions but being able to not stoop to the same gutter as the offender. Not a superiority issue, just not shaming myself in public and possibly in front of my family.

  • Thank you John for taking the time to post a thoughtful response. Your father was no doubt a gentleman and taught you well.

  • Why aren't you asking if the NFL player's sign language is acceptable? After all, after crawling through the jungles of 'nam and coming home as a service connected disabled veteran, I think I should have at least the freedom of speech as they do. Why deny me and allow them?

  • Not telling you to stop posting....post away, I learn a lot about a man by what he writes. Again, I ask the opinion of men I respect on the site what they think.

  • And I asked you if you felt that a disabled vet should have less freedom of speech than a millionaire game player should have. So far, I haven't seen an answer, but I have seen a hint.

  • Re: A True American Speaks Out
  • As a vet my answer is everyone has the freedom of speech...again I encouraged you to post so its obvious I extend freedom of speech to everyone. If someone is discouraging you to post then shame on them...
