  • Posting Policy
  • Reviewing our posting policy -SEE LINK-, says that any racist remarks are not allowed. That being said, even by the abbreviated version of the 'offending word' in his reply, we have to abide by our policy and delete his remark. I'm not saying personally I disagree with him, but if he, Poderac, chooses to rephrase his comments, leaving out the derogatory wording, or using a different term, then he is free do it. Congratulations, you got your wish. I do have to ask though, have you ever served?

  • Well done Tim! It's good to see civil discussion. I'm a U.S. Navy vet, 1953-57and served in USS Wisconsin BB-64 "The Last Battleship". I check in to Politics here now and then and being a left-of-center Democrat find that my take on politics is not too common there. So, I read a bit, mentally fire off a snarky reply or two and log out. HOWEVER: I often check in on the forum and soon realize that among the posters there I have some kindred spirits. AND, to boot I've had some valuable help from the same guys who's politics I disagree with. 68 years ago this summer (I was 14) I drove a brand spanking new 8N from the dealer in Almond, Wisconsin about 6 miles to my grandparents farm. My uncle Ben who had served in the US Army on Guadalcanal and some other unpleasant places was then running the farm, still dogged by Malaria he's contracted there. Uncle Ben, who died in 2002, was a right-of-center Independent and I think I can honestly say that he would be quite disturbed at the words and actions of President Trump. So am I. PS: You can visit my old ship in Norfolk, VA which was our home port in the 1950's.

  • Thank you for your service to America, Dave. It is just too bad that my original post got way off topic. All the replies were about the comment made by Poderac. That is the NY Representative said the kneeling and the fist raising crap is equally as bad as giving a Nazi salute, and I agree.

  • United States Navy 1969-1975. Low draft number and went to Navy recruiter per father's advice. He served in the Navy WWII and felt it a good fit for me. He was right...great friends made and incredible experiences. Took me out of my rural world, met people with different cultural and ethnic origins.
Now, being a Vet does not give me a leg up on anyone or make me special. Plenty of guys went in the service but it does make me proud to have served.

  • Thanks, Tim.
I won't stir the waters any more. I got my point across that freedom of speech seems to be one sided these days.

  • Hate speech is in the tone and back ground meaning, not in a word itself. The way I used it is no where near hate speech. Your response is closer to hate speech than my post.

  • Yep. I know exactly what you are saying bro, and I want to say personally thank you for service to our country, the USA. Your comment is only going to be deleted because of the N-Word you understand. God Bless The USA!!!

  • I understand completely. In fact, that was my point. They use it. They can say and do any thing they want. We can't.
