  • The Wall
  • I don't pay attention to all of the national news because it makes me sick. Neither side of the political parties is worth a damn. But I have a simple question. If tЯump, McConnell, Ryan, and the rest of the republicans wanted a wall so bad. Why did they not get it done the first two years while they had control of everything without Dem. approval??

  • Because Ryan, McConnell and other long-time swamp dwellers are RINO's and globalists who would be as happy as Democrats to not have a wall. They didn't want it. Trump campaigned on it, got elected because of it and is the first President in memory who seems actually committed to fulfilling campaign promises.

  • They had less than the 60 required to pass it. No Dem/libs would switch. Having a simple majority and having controling majority are two different things.

  • This is how I understand it. The system is designed to impede complete control.
Checks and balances and so on. Some days the US system has advantages, that prevent a President or party from doing everything it wants. Some days it impedes progress.

There are many issues that I think should have a 60 or 65 percent approval. Like the Brexit vote.

Up here, a majority governing party, could proceed with the wall. We have other issues that could also stall it, such as is happening with the pipelines.

  • That is the simple answer, the excuse yada, yada, yada.

The truth is that congress exists not to serve the people but to perpetuate the good life of the members. When an organization is formed, the initial intent may be to do good for a segment of the population, but within a short time the focus shifts to preservation and enhancement of the organization.

If a number of dems had decided to fund the wall, it is highly likely a like number of repubs would have opposed it. Heck, all of the repubs could not even support Trump's pick for the SCOTUS.

Call me jaded, but it certainly seems like job security is way more important than the good of the country. If border security, health care, and you name whatever else is important to you, was taken care of it would be darn difficult to fault your opponent, claim you had or were the answer, and raise funds for an election to lifetime wealth, security and health care.

  • I won't argue the personal motivations of those in government. BUT, even IF all "Pubs" had voted in favor of the wall it would not have passed. So, that is not CONTROL of the Senate. That is ALL that I was saying.
Don't get me wrong on the issue. I believe that we need to control our boarder, WITH BARRIERS (walls}. I watched the SOTU. I was apalled by the display of the Dem/Lib/Socialists. I will be sending messages to my US Representative, Dingle and US Senator, Stabenow. I have regular communication with them. Do you contact yours?

  • Reelection is the number 1, number 2, number 3, etc., etc., etc., priority of just about all members of congress.

That's why it is a swamp.
