  • Interesting. In the late 60's I was with the company that contracted to build the intake and outfall systems for that plant. We also did the site work and foundations for the towers that carried the transmission wires. The intake was an 11' steel pipe into lake Michigan, warm water was also piped out into the lake. A extra part of my job was to oppose and or appease greenies and at times there were lots of them. A few years later I did the same thing on a much larger scale at the Donald C Cook plant a few miles south. The environmentalists soon won out nationally and atomic plant construction soon became passe. The cessation of atomic plant construction plus an attempt at year round great lakes navigation are the reasons that I have been in Fl since 1977.

  • I believe that Thorium reactors, especially SMRs, will eventually emerge as the salvation for power generation.

    Been following for some time but haven't seen anything in the MSM untill very recently.

    Sadly, we could/should have been developing these for years but are now behind the curve.
