Michigan Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a prominent member of the progressive “Squad,” spent more than $30,000 in campaign funds on limousine services over the past year, according to recent Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings — raising questions about her campaign’s spending practices as she continues to push for wealth redistribution and corporate accountability.

Between October 2024 and September 2025, Tlaib’s campaign made numerous payments to Aline Luxury Limo Services, a Detroit-based transportation company that appears to provide high-end travel options, including limousines, SUVs, and sedans. The expenses ranged from $118.80 to $1,326 per ride, with several individual payments exceeding $500, according to the filings.

Limo Service Tied to Archived Chauffeur Company
Though current online listings for Aline Luxury Limo Services are minimal, an archived version of the DTW Chauffeured Rides website (linked to the same address) described itself as offering “luxury transportation for over a decade,” with a fleet of classic limousines, modern sedans, and SUVs. A matching entry in the Michigan Business Registry lists a corporation under the same name, registered in the Detroit area.

DTW’s archived site also noted a commitment to “an upscale experience at an affordable price,” with an emphasis on customer safety and professional chauffeurs — language typically used by premium transportation providers.

Progressive Rhetoric vs. Luxury Spending
The luxury travel expenditures are drawing attention in light of Tlaib’s public advocacy for economic equality, corporate accountability, and higher taxes on the wealthy. A self-described champion of the working class, Tlaib has been a leading voice in Congress calling for increased regulation of executive compensation and higher taxation of the ultra-rich.

In September 2025, she co-sponsored the “Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act” alongside Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, which targets corporate executives who make hundreds of times more than their average workers.

Tlaib has also fiercely criticized Trump's tax policies, calling them “an act of violence against our communities” and condemning rising income inequality as devastating to American families.

Critics Accuse Tlaib of Hypocrisy
The news of Tlaib’s campaign’s high-end travel spending has sparked backlash among critics, who argue the progressive firebrand’s rhetoric doesn’t match her campaign’s actions.

Some on social media pointed to the contrast between her spending and her vocal support for public transit, rent control, and affordable housing.

Tlaib has previously pushed for fare-free public transportation.
