Laying The Groundwork
We have lost and we're pulling out, folks. After the election, I expect Trump to announce that we won and are pulling out. Inevitable, as we cannot win this war without nukes (won't happen) and even nukes cannot reach Irans nuclear sites and missile manufacturing facilities, both of which are much too far underground. Yes, nukes would make access much more problematic but Iran (Russia, China, etc., as well) thinks in terms of generations whereas the US thinks in terms of next elections. In any event, such is hypothetical. Iran, though damaged militarily, will be able to sell oil again and will continue charging fees for Hormuz transit. They will use the revenues to rebuild their military and continue development of nuclear weapons and intercontinental missiles. Of course, they will incorporate everything they have learned from the recent confilct and will be even more of a threat than they have been within a very few years. Expect some such similar announcement regarding Ukraine early next year.
