  • Help with drill press manual
  • Got a Duracraft DP-1214 drill press for my shop and can't find any information on it. Judging by the overall appearance of the machine I would guess it was made in the mid to late 70's. Biggest problem is I can't find a key that will fit the chuck properly and I don't know how to get the existing chuck off so I can replace it with a new one that has a key. Anybody know where I can find an owners manual or part manual for this? Duracraft is out of Kansas I may have to take a week off and drive over there LOL.

  • Measure the pilot hole in the side of the chuck. That decides the key size. The last time I lost a chuck key I bought a hand full at a used tool shop,Cost 50 cents each.Taper chucks are removed wit 2 wedges.

  • Can you post a close up pic of the chuck? If it is like my Craftsman, it is a bit tricky.

  • Chuck is a 5/8" Jacobs #33 with a #2 morse taper.

  • My Craftsman drill press has a threaded on chuck. First time I tried to take it off was a thrill. Did you get your's off like you was wanting?
I know on some of the tapered chucks, you have to lower the quill a little to expose a slot for a wedge tool.

  • I got lucky, once I got it home and got it cleaned up I found the chuck is the same as the one I use in my metal lathe. Took it apart and cleaned off the surface rust and dirt and it works great. Would be nice to have a manual though. Can't seem to get the depth control to work.
