  • I am new to the world of Ford N series tractors after being a Gravely collecote for years. Now looking for answers to 3 questions for my recently acquired 1952 Ford 8N:

    1) What crankcase oil would I use today
    2) Is 50/50 mix good to top off radiator
    3) What do I do about a leaking rear tire filled with water/calcium that only leaks around the valve stem. Can the vavle stem be replaced? It look slike it is treaded in place.

    Thanks.....Joe

  • 1 - 10/W30 motor oil should be fine.

2 - yes but only fill to top of the core, anymore than that and it will expand when hot and boil over making you think something is wrong.

3 - tires have tubs in them. If one is leaking you will need to replace the tube. The valve cores have nuts to hold them in place, they are part of the tube.
