Hey Rick
First, if you post this in the N Board section you will get more replies than just mine :)>!!!
Safety is the most important part of running anything witht he PTO :)>!!
No loose clothes and NO distractions :)>!!!
The 8N will dig a hole about 3 to 4 feet deep, depending on the soil conditions and your experience :)>!!!
You will have to pick the auger up many times so you don't get the auger stuck to far down in the soil :)>!!!
Also, bring a pipe wrench with you just in case you do get stuck, reverse the direction of the shaft with the Tractor OFF :)>!!!
You might want to try a few practice holes so you can get the feel of the auger :)>!!!
I have a Leinbach Post Hole digger that I bought from The Smart Farmer and am very pleased with it :)>!!!
Remember these tractors and post hole diggers are machines that don't think, That Is Your Job :)>
I can't stress enough to keep raising the auger to clean it of loose soil :)>>!!!!!
You also mite want to bring a long bar and something to pick out any rocks that to find as you are digging :)>!!!
I am sure others will reply to your post in the N Board section :)>!!!
These are my guide lines and am sure there are others :)>!!!
Let me know what happens and if you have further questions, give me a shout or a e-mail me, just remember to delete the . remove at the end of my e mail address.
That is put on every e mail address to help with automatic e mail sending
sites :)>!!!
Have a Great Tractor Day Always
