I've had such good luck with getting info from this site that I thought I'd run this one by you guys. I have a low spot on the north end of my property that would cost alot of $$ to have red sand trucked in to fill. I don't intend to build over this area, but don't want rubble or debris used as fill. Some time ago, I saw a low elevation horse lot slowly get built up to street level by a man who placed some sort of a gasoline powered pump into the creek behind this horse lot which hosed out a slurry mix of water and creek sand which, surprisingly, filled the lot with sand ( I mean by a couple of feet over an area of about 175 x 200 ft.) I have a VERY sandy ditch on the back of my property that needs cleaned out once in awhile and wonder how I could rig up a kinda homemade sand dredge to pump sand slurry onto my low area? Do I just get a powerful gasoline pump and large diameter hose or do I need some sort of "shaker" mechanism for stirring the sand into the water mix to be pumped out? All replies much appreciated.
