Looks like a Love disc.
Here's a link to a similar one on YT.

As for getting the disc blades off you are on the right track.
Loosen the nut and you should be able to slide the axle out.
Helps to have the disc suspended on the 3 point of your tractor or jacked up.
Just don't get under it.
If you are anywhere near Central Minn I have several of those disc blades that I would sell cheaply as I'm not using that size any more.
The square hole is 7/8" BTW not 1"
