Just use or make a tow bar that attaches to the front of the tractor being towed. A rigid tow bar can even be used to push the dead vehicle backwards. The towed tractor will self-steer in whatever direction it is pulled or pushed. I drag stuff around all the time with nothing more than a chain passed thru a piece of 2" pipe. A real tow bar has a coupler that drops on a hitch ball, and two arms that connect to the vehicle being towed. This works much better than just a piece of pipe, it keeps the towed vehicle centered behind the hitch.
