Your L2501 is about 20 PTO HP at rated speed, nominally the same as a 9/2N at rated speed, but it is considerably lighter and does not have draft control. Moreover, hydrostatic transmissions, though wonderfully convenient, are very inefficient and not well suited for ground engaging implements.

Forget about a 2X12" plow unless you have ideal conditions, which you apparently do not have. You will not pull it more than 4"-6" deep in your "clay" soil, and you will need considerable ballast to do so.

I would look for a single 12" plow for your situation.

Why not use a rototiller rather than a plow?
