I have used my phd on both the 8N and the NAA. The NAA works better because of the live hydraulics (you can clutch/stop the pto and still lift the auger if needed). I try to watch the feed rate and with my hand on the hydraulic lever ready to jerk it upwards. When it grabs something it can sink fast. I have had to pipe wrench out on both roots and rocks. Usually, a couple of turns will allow the hydraulics to lift the auger out. Be safe, turn the tractor off if you have to use the wrench. Exhaust fumes.
