I recall a post a few years go on the YT board when someone asked for advice on setting the points. The very first reply said to pull the distributor, it will only go back one way, off-set tang, so put in on the bench, yada-yada. Apparently the poster did exactly as told, because a day or so later he was back saying the tractor wouldn't start, was backfiring, etc. It took a few more replies to figure out that he had a sidemount distributor.
