My neighbor across the road passed this past Saturday.
Aside from being a Ford tractor collector he was a good man and a close friend.
He owned a 50 (?) 8N that he bought in 1955 (?), and, after retiring 20+ years ago, collected and restored 6 or 7 other vintage Fords.
He grew up locally, joined the Air Force after high school, and became a flight engineer on a B-29 in Korea.
He flew his missions without incident, aside from a single engine fire, returned home, married his high school sweetheart who had been working for Crosley in Cincinnati while waiting for him to return, raised five very good kids, and sent all of them to college while working as a laborer in a local factory. All of his kids turned out very well.
His wife, a very hard worker at home raising the kids and doing the domestic work, never worked outside of the home after they were married. She passed about three years ago.
I admire him immensely and will miss him.
