No one is disparaging 12 volts. The statement is in regard to those who do 12-volt conversions because they donít know what else to do. 75%-85% of the non-starting/non-running archived posts are all with 12 volt conversions, with most all due to the wrong setups. Issues often turn out to be fuel or bad wiring jobs. Yeah, a worn engine that doesnít warrant a rebuild might be best to convert to 12 but explore all 6-volt avenues otherwise. That is the point. If you read my post, I asked why did he think the starter was shot and even so, why convert and not just rebuild the starter? Also, even if he meant to say generator, ditto Ėwhy not just rebuild it? A belt stuck on the crank pulley to me sounds like the wrong setup/belt to begin with.
