I finally got this 9N that's been sitting fir years to turn over with a spark.
I got some starting fluid to get things going. The engine turns slowly so I thought I would us starting fluid. The engine fires right away then the starter kicks out and spins stopping the engine from starting. Could it be a bad starter? Not familiar with old starters and I'm not sure why there is a spring on the end of the starter shaft inside of the clutch housing.

Thanks
