I would say that part of the reason for the decline in value on Ns is the Internet in general and forums like this in particular.
Aside from nostalgic reasons, for the last 20 years or so Ns were usually entry level tractors. But now a guy wanting to buy a tractor can easily get on his computer and do a little bit of research on the best value in a tractor.
It doesn't take a lot of effort to find forums like this where things like the advantages of live hyds, live pto, PS, etc are discussed. So a guy can look for a tractor armed with a LOT more knowledge than he could in the past.
We have all seen threads where a prospective buyer asks which tractor he should buy - an 8N for $1800, a Jubilee for $2300 or a 3000 for $2800. Anyone who is being honest is going to tell him that both the Jube and 3000 are a better value - assuming of course they all run decently, have average tires, tin, etc.
