You can tighten the nut through the PTO shaft but unlikely you could manipulate the cotter key.

Like Zane advised, differential comes out from the left side so you only need to remove the right side trumpet.

It's not a hard job but it is time consuming and heavy - I used a cherry picker to save my back.
