The brake pawls are one of the most useful items on any tractor. I use them now as well as back in the 1950's. They are be a real help when hooking and in unhooking implements. One should always use them when parking on any but the most level of ground. We had bulk feed wagons that had a PTO powered unloading auger. I would pull up to the large feeders and unload feed directly into the feeders. Since this was not all done from the tractor seat it was imperative that the brake pawls were set when transferring feed. How about when belt driving any accessories such as a silo filler or PTO grain conveyor. Would you like to use a 3 point cordwood saw with the tractor rocking back and forth because the pawls were not set. Brake pawls are necessary and must be used in many instances.
