I think the cylinder is probably leaking. I have a cylinder and piston in the shed. If memory serves me correctly, we had a cylinder with a bad groove in it and had it honed and a piston that took an O-ring instead of using the old piston with the rings. At that time I didn't have the resources that I do now. This is really fuzzy but it seems that we had concerns with the scores in the cylinder and the guy said that with the O-ring that wouldn't be a problem. My guess is that over time it cut the O-Ring. At the same time, we rebuilt the pump with a kit.

If I end up replacing the cylinder, do I need to get a cylinder and piston set or would I be able to just get a new O-ring for the piston that is in the lift and just replace the cylinder?
