I know this isn't what you asked, but do you know that the Ford Front Mount Distributor timing is set automatically when you rebuild the distributor and remount it correctly? The original Operator's Manual and the I&T F-04 Manual have the procedure to rebuild the distributor. We also have documents in our HOW-TO's forum -look at the top red menu bar on the home page to see other forums here. Our MANUALS forum has a downloadable copies of the I&T F-04 Manual and the May 1949 MPC. Click on the LINK below to see the tune-up document now. The distributor has an offset tang on the back which when orientated correctly automatically sets your timing when the distributor is mounted. The firing order is 1,2,4,3 shown in picture, and it is important to have wiring correct as well. Look under ELECTRICAL in How-To's for Wiring Pictograms by JMOR for reference.
