They are all made of steel -cast iron is too brittle for that application. I wouldn't toss the original out. Have you tried PB BLASTER in the threads? Have you tried heating it up to help loosen? Propane or butane isn't hot enough -you need a good torch like a welders' torch. But if you get it too hot, you only work harden the material and then it may become worse. Try spraying PB or Liquid Wrench in it several times a day for a few days then try loosening it. Apply heat as a last resort but part must be clamped good so it doesn't turn. Try a local machine shop too as they may be able to help you. As far as original or new, I don't know, I like to always use the original whenever I can. You can try looking in the archives here for old posts on the subject. You might find someone who has been down that road already and can offer advice.
