My tractor needs axle seals. So I decide to take it all apart and put in new rear axle bearings and seals. I do my research. I drill and chisel the old collars off. I make a puller with some 5/8 all-thread and a draw-bar and pull the bearings. Drive out the old races and seals. Clean everything up. Buy all the parts. Start putting everything back together reverse of the disassembly. Just to find out the new collars don't fit. They have about .004 clearance. No press at all! And the funny thing is the bearings press just fine. So I know the axles are the right size. They measure 2.000-2.001 inches. The hole in the collar measures 2.005 inches. Anybody else experience this or ideas?
