No end play either side. .020" shims took care of it. I guess I could test it with ultra sound at 1000 rpm. I don't want to Brinell the races from running too loose.

BUT WAIT!!!

It's a 22hp tractor with a 2.750" axle shaft and tapered roller bearings turning maybe forty RPM at road speed. (I didn't do the math to calculate the actual wheel RPM because I didn't research the gear ratios, engine top speed through third gear and the final drive.).

I am going to install a couple of drive in ball oil cups close to the backing plate in the housing so I can prelube the bearings before I use the machine. (Yes I will grease the bit, so save those comments.) Probably will lose points if I show it, Oh well.
