Folks, I know that this thread is getting old but I thought I'd post an update.
Yesterday, I finally got around to setting up the 5' cutter, previously used on the 51 8N, on the new B3350 Kubota and tried it out.
OMG! It's much better than I imagined.
My 51 is in very good condition and has a Sherman combination transmission but the little Kubota (27 PTO HP, same as a good late model 8N) is so much more modern, user friendly, easier to use, etc., etc., etc.
Of course, it should be as it is over seven decades newer. It also cost about 10 times what I hope to realize when I sell my 51 (LOTS of options and accessories).
Yes, it's 6 or 7 hundred pounds lighter than the 51 and will need front weights (I have a full set not installed) for some of the chores that I used the 51 for but I will get the work done quicker and it will be easier on me. It is also more versatile and I will be able to use it for other tasks in the off season that the 8N was not well suited for.
FWIW, I also have a 52 with just over 1,000 original hours and Sherman combination transmission that serves as my quad. I will never sell the 52.
