If buying a remanufactured (or new) alternator eBay is as good as if not better source than local - typically lower price and you save, gas money, time, shipping and pay no tax. Plus you are likely to get the same thing sold at your local NAPA/AutoZone/Oreilley's/etc.

The simple truth is a 10SI alternator (or clone) is a recyclable commodity not worth the cost of paying someone to fix it. As JMOR says- have the alternator tested at a local parts supply - simple and free. If it tests OK then the problem is in the wiring. If not order another one.
