I did figure out the problem. The brass seat is roughed up on the end. I looked at it under a magnifying glass. I think it is the original, or an original. It is marked Bendix. My dad bought the tractor new in 1957. I might be able to clean it up on a lathe, but it is probably not worth the effort. I bought one recently for a Cub Farmall with CNH on the box and it leaked a stream, not a few drops.
