I just installed all new tune up equipment on my 52 8n with 12 volt system and discovered after i had done that that my problem was a frayed wire between starter button and solenoid. but after replacing plugs, plug wires, coil, points, condenser, and solenoid it now turns over but I get a violent electrical snap on the starter motor where the heavy copper mess wire connects to the starter motor.
Help.

Things I may have done wrong:

1. hooked the negative pole of the coil to the distributor, right?
2. I put the solenoid on just as the old one was?
????
