Photos have circulated of several homemade versions. As long as the adapter keeps moisture out of the distributor, and provides secure terminals for low and high voltage, it should work. The round can coil is a better design, but most of the adapters I've seen create several new problems. If the intent is to make the tractor more reliable, adding more failure points isn't the way to do it. One of the best looking attempts was carved from a block of wood. Can't say if it worked well or lasted very long, but it was a work of art.
