Only two model years, 1977-78. At that age it should be inexpensive which for me would be under $3000. Too many newer makes and models to make it worth much more than that. Yanmar makes John Deere compacts so they MAY be a source for some things but at that age parts are going to be an issue. Here is a link to a company in Alabam the specializes in refurbished Yanmars and parts. They want $6400 for a refurbished YM2500.

If it were me and if it runs and operates well, no obvious problems, and I could get it at a reasonable price it would be a reasonable risk. Those Japanese diesels will run a VERY long time....
