I am following up a post of a couple weeks ago where my touch control lever was very stiff to the point it worried me that something would break. So, I have the tractor at home. Hoping that the problem was something easy to fix I attempted to remove the friction plate. Well, as most know, the casting was frozen to the shaft. At this point I just sprayed it with Release All and left it. After a few days I think I noted some improvement in the effort needed to move the lever. Today I wondered what might be behind the quadrant so I loosened the four bolts holding it onto the lift cover hoping that I might be able to get the penetrant on the shaft behind that part. Loosened bolts and with flashlight can see in behind. Question. If I remove the four bolts will the whole quadrant slide off of the shaft or will the shaft come out with it from the lift cover? I really do not want to remove the lift cover so am being timid about this process. Can someone advise??
