Did not intend sidestepping the HOW issue. Plain truth is I don't know! Had this happened on my 860 I would not have been surprised as it has been used and abused. However I've never felt the 2N had been. Hydraulics on the 2N have always been much stronger.

I was using the sickle bar mower when the part broke. That certainly should not have put any strain on it. I suspect it was cracked earlier. Perhaps running a scoop in this clay soil of mine.

My nephew is only 7 years younger than I but in worse physical shape. In my youth I could lift 200 pounds and walk away. Now the only way I can lift 80 is if it is two 5 gallon cans of gasoline.
