JUST to clarify, the PROOFMETER was not and did not include a temperature sensor. It also, contrary to what some believe, was/is not an electrical device. It is a simple mechanical device, no electrical power whatsoever. It connects to the governor. ALL standard N's (wartime 2Ns excluded) had an AMMETER on the upper LH dash and the Oil Pressure Gauge mounted on the RH upper dash. The warhorse 2N model with steel wheels and magneto had a steel plate tack welded on where the AMMETER would go -no electrics -no need for gauge. Likewise, there was a steel plate bolted to the starter pocket for the same reason.
