Amen, on drilling the 1/16 hole in the thermostat----when I rebuilt the engine on our 1941 9N I install a new thermostat in the top hose (Yes, I turned it the right way), and also a a new 4lb radiator cap. When the thermostat opened a rush of pressure came from the engine that forced about 1/2 the antifreeze out on the ground. I tried it again and it did the same thing---the tractor had been run over 60 years without a thermostat, so, I took it out and threw it in the trash. If I had drilled a small hole in the thermostat, it would have eliminated the problem---lesson learned, Dennis.
