Jim, I've been running skid shoes on my blade for better than 20 yrs with no problems. I got position control but never use it. You don't mention what kind of surface your plowing. Around here we have access to crushed limestone; #73 w/fines is what everyone uses. When it rains in the fall and freezes in the winter that dust sets up like concrete. No need for wheel weights or loaded tires - just good gripping chains. It's a pleasure to plow. Also I empty a spray can of 'Pam' on the blade every fall.
