What am I missing here. Trying to read all of the information that you have been provided and I can't find any reference to a possible weak pressure relief valve. Did I miss it? Anyone?
I think there are a lot of good ideas offered in this thread and I'm noting some that I might use on another tractor.
I have the 1951 8N that my father bought in 1953 when I was 10. I'm 76. The pump has never been rebuilt. It works just fine. I did rebuild the upper hydraulics; cylinder and an NAA piston and seals. I also have the Jig and cam follower pins that Zane Sherman had made available years ago. The cam itself was worn vary badly and I had it built up and then dressed smooth.
The three point no longer gets used. And, it has retired from hayrides. It's only duty anymore is for a fresh air ride around the yard or down the road to a neighbors for a cold one on a hot day.
