I've never got more than two years out of the TSC/WillyWonkaworld low budget batteries and switched to Interstate years ago. I got 8 years on my last one. DEKA, EXIDE, DURACELL, seem to be the best. I worked on a MF tractor last year for a friend who had an Auto Zone battery in it less than a year old and was junk. Don't know about 'original Ford case' but 6V AG GP-1 battery is what you want - no DEEP CYCLE type or golf cart type. The best thing you can do is invest in a battery float charger. The DELTRAN BATTERY JR. brand is good. Note, 'float' not trickle charger -not the same thing. Keep battery on it when tractor not in use. The worse thing to do to diminish battery life is the constant discharging and recharging. Simply connecting a charger every now and then isn't helping. Wallyworld sells the Battery Tenders but I bought mine online for $30 shipping included.
