I took a used spark plug and spread the electrode to 3/16" ,laid the plug on the head. Switch on, cranked the starter. No spark. Checked the point gap, made sure it was .016-.018". I've worked on tractors and cars that have round coils. Easy to diagnose. Square coils not so much. Original 6 volt system.
